What's the difference between white and red wine in taste?
I’m a bit of a wino I must admit but I want to know more about wine. I only drink cheap white wine and was wonder about the taste difference. Is red sweeter? Also can you recommend any quality brand of red and white wine out there that isn’t ridiculously expensive? Thank you

Red wine is far more adventurous I find, more of a story to tell, more intricate flavours and tastes.
I always get 0 sugar content dry red wines, so they’re not sweet. Often they are peppery, leathery, berries, tobacco, all these and more.
SPanish red wines, particularly from the Rioja region, are my favourites. If you’re in the US try picking up a bottle of Campo Viejo Crianza. It’s around $13 and has a really nice spicy palate, a long berry finish. You can enjoy every mouthful rolled around your tongue for a few seconds before you swallow it.
Goes super with any meat – Lamb, pork, steak, etc., etc.
Once you start enjoying reds, you’ll never look back at whites unless you’re using one for cooking. The only time I ever have a glass of white these days is if I’m making a pasta with a white wine sauce.
Red and white wine both come in all degrees of sweetness. Red wine tastes more "grapey", most of the time, usually it has a stronger taste. There are so many kinds of wine, you just have to try stuff to see what you like. You should try some of the middle-priced ones, there is often a real difference in quality of taste at only a slightly higher price.
HaHaHa I’m a bit of a wine-o too but I prefer white wines because to me, red wines are more tart, red wines stains your teeth eventually and not to mention if you waste in on your clothes or the carpet etc….so yeah I prefer white wines like Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Moscato, etc….
