I had this bottle the other week and it was great then I brought another bottle last night and it was horrible. It was dry, sour and left a horrible taste in my mouth, think is was a merlot. Which type of red wine is a bit sweeter and has less of a kick, thanks guys.
i am going to a gathering tomorrow. we drink good red wine. mostly merlot and cabernet. i need some cheese suggestions and easy upscale appetizers. any suggestions?

I routinely cook with white wine, but rarely use red wine in cooking (except in making beef burgundy). If a recipe for a beef stew or beef roast calls for the addition of red wine, what kind of wine do you use? A merlot? A cabernet? Or is there something else? Will any inexpensive domestic red wine work?
My favorite wine is a sav blanc or a reisling, but would like to find a favorite red. Merlot and cab sav are too dry for my taste. Any suggestions before I throw out any more wine?
