Recently I’ve been looking into the benefits of drinking a glass or two of wine per day. I haven’t been much of a wine drinker, but decided to pick up a bottle of "Cono Sur"- a bottle of merlot rose. I’ve had less than half a glass (with dinner) and I’m already feel a little warmth in my stomach. Is it okay to feel a little tipsy, or is that a sign you’re drinking too much? I’m not talking drunk, just feeling a little loose. Also, how much does a "glass" amount to? My glasses are pretty large, so I filled it considerably less than half way.
And my last question- I’ve read that more expensive wines are better for you, because the fruit is richer therefore more antioxidants and resveratrol. I’m not up for spending 0 on each bottle of wine, so what fruits, ingredients or cheaper names should I look out for that will give me the benefits of a more expensive bottle without breaking the bank?
I have a huge bottle of Blush red wine that I bought yesterday, only had 2 glasses and dont plan to have anymore for prob like a few months..I know wine gets better with age, but does that rule still stand when its in the fridge???
Should people with coronary heart disease avoid all alcohol? Is red wine is an exception? What would be your advice to some one who has not been taking alcohol all these years? (… except a few glasses of beer / vodka over the years.)
I drink red wine fairly regularly, 2 or 3 glasses twice a week normally, but the bottle doesn’t contain an ingredients list like food products do. I get the same sugary coated feeling on my teeth after the wine as I do after eating chocolate or drinking a sugary fruit drink and this has got me wondering just how much sugar is in red wine.
I had a bottle of Hatteras Red Muscadine wine that a friend gave me a few weeks back. When she gave it to me, we opened it, and drank a few glasses, and then closed it. I haven’t drank it in about two weeks, and when I went to open the bottle again the cork popped out like a champagne cork. Is this supposed to happen or is there probably bacteria in my wine? To drink.. Or not to drink… ?
A friend and I have gotten into a disagreement over this. I say from what I understand, two glasses of red wine per day is good for one’s health in various ways, including protecting the cardio vascular system, lowering cholestrol and helping prevent against certain cancers. He says this is not so and that not drinking two glasses of red a day isn’t better than drinking two glasses a day. Can anyone clarify? Also, would the supposed benefit not apply to people in their late twenties (i.e. me!)? Thanks!
What are the benefits and disadvantages of drinking red wine on a regular basis? I usually drink one or two glasses with my dinner.
After having really bad nightmares about four times,I began to look for the reason. The only thing I had done different was drink red wine and only about two glasses because I really don’t like the taste, I was being polite to my host at the time. Is there anyone else out there who has this type of problem?
Lots of recent reports would have it that regularly drinking red wine spiffs up your health, because of the "resveratrol" in them. After being a teetotaller for many years, I took up slurping red wines (primarily the fairly decent plonks Carlo Rossi Paisano and Chianti). I’ve been doing up large glasses of wine four times a week, each about 8 ounces. This is apparently enough for health benefits, plus people have been shown in studies to think better after moderate amounts of alcohol (with emphasis on "moderate", which obviously precludes lurching bouts of sheer drunkenness).

But one does worry about little alcohol soldiers marching about and slaughtering brain cells if one should, say, occasionally laugh gleefully and down not one, but two in a row of those extra-sized McGlasses of plonk. Is there any basis for worrying like an old lady about it?
My doctor suggested that I drink two glasses of wine everyday, one in the morning and one at night, for my hearts health. Which is the best red wine for my heart. Price is not a worry.
I’m thinking about drinking red wine in a nightclub when I visit Northern California (probably in San Francisco). I wonder whether I should get a bottle or 4 glasses. Don’t know anything about red wine so probably will just get the house red wine.
I am turning 21 this November, and while this means I don’t have a long history with or knowledge of wine consumption and storage, I have greatly enjoyed the few glasses I’ve had with family friends and relatives over the past few years. Because I am not a huge partier, I’d like to commemorate my turning 21 by purchasing a bottle of wine (preferably red) on that day, then save it for a few years to finally open on another birthday. I have no specific plan, I just like the idea of buying a bottle of wine on my 21st and drinking it on some future birthday, as soon as the next year or as late as 50.
Being only 20 I obviously don’t have the grandest budget for this, but I was hoping someone would have a few bottles or vintages I should look into–or just a particular type of wine that is always likely to improve with moderate aging.
Thanks so much!
