Red Wine Resveratrol Archives

I was given a grape vine from a neighbor as a gift. It was about 4+ years old and this year was its first year producing. I was told it was a Thompson Seedless… well they are almost ready to eat and I gave one a try. Its still a bit tart, and the center kind of oozed out as a lump and not a juicy thompson at all. Also, the most obvious, it had 3 rather large seeds inside. The outside of the skin is spotted with brown, and the skin is a bit tougher.

I do know for sure it is NOT a muscadine grape as they are 1/2 the size of a muscadine which are common and grow wild around here in NC. The muscadines are also a more bronze color more so then actually being green like these grapes are. The vine is also more like the winery grapes I’ve seen traveling, and not the muscadine type of vines that are bulky and grow the grapes in small clusters rather then larger groupings like ours is.

Is there a certain thing I should look for on the vine or leaves to tell more? Or is there something I should be able to pick up in the taste to help point me in the right direction? I’m guessing it probably a common wine grape of some sort.

Which Red Wine is healthiest? ( has the highest Resveratrol / tannin/ polyphenol content)
I don’t need to know why red wine is good to us..etc
Please don’t give me the answer like : generally all red wine are beneficial to health/ It depends….etc
I really want to pick some outstanding ones (brands ) with exceptional health- value.
As I know, Pinot noir wine just mean a type of wine created predominantly from Pinot noir grapes. And there are soooooo many brands of Pinot noir wine, can anyone really give me some precise answer?

Can I use Sensa while on the SBD even though it contains maltodextrin? What about my Reservatrol which is made up primarily of red wine extract?

Are anti oxidants like youth juice, mangosteen, green tea extract resveratrol worth buying? Which is the best and in conjunction with which others? Assuming my diet is good… I am looking to feel good, look young and live for ever of course. Another question… youth juice is just raspberries, blue berries and a few others for 50 bucks a small bottel. will buy a lot of berries, why not just make the juice your self?

I have lived in the south all my life and have only heard muscadine grapes called muscadimes. I am wondering if this is true for the rest of the south or if it is just regional.

Science Behind Health Benefits of Moderate Beer Consumption
October 10, 2006

There is mounting scientific evidence that moderate consumption of beer or other alcoholic beverages — defined by the government as one to two servings daily — may actually have health benefits over not consuming alcohol at all.

This native in the bahamas gave me this grape like fruit to try and I loved it. It was green with a tart skin similar to a muscadine but the flesh was slimy and there was a large pit in the middle. We asked the local what it was called and whatever he said sounded like "knap" (kuh*nap) Please help!

I am 16, i have pretty bad acne on my face, along with folliculitis on my back, thighs, and but. While pruning a two-year-old muscadine vine, the main stem was accidentally cut half through. Will this injury heal or will the vine suffer?

Thanks,
David
Thanks Cajundude. Unfortunately the cut was made a couple of feet up the main stem and the laterals are already at the five foot level so I’m hoping to keep them.
I’ll keep watering the Cowart as needed and hope the cut heals and it makes it. The cut is at a sharp angle, a quarter of an inch deep I’m guessing. I was really disappointed when the accident occurred. But the good news is all the leaves are still nice and green and the laterals are still growing.

Two Questions. I have a muscadine bush or should I call it a tree, that is growing all over everywhere. And some of the muscadines are dying. How do I tame it and what do I need to do to save the fruit …Also some insect is eating my flowering plants. It is like it is cutting the flowers off. What can I do to kill them…

can someone please help me analyze any of these quotes?

"Cholly, moving faster, looked at Darlene. He hated her. He almost wished he could do it – hard, long, and painfully, he hated her so much. The flashlight wormed its way into his guts and turned the sweet taste of muscadine into rotten fetid bile. He stared at Darlene’s hands covering her face in the moon and lamplight. They looked like baby claws." pg. 148

"Here was an ugly little girl asking for beauty. A surge of love and understanding swept through him, but was quickly replaced by anger. Anger that he was powerless to help her. Of all the wishes people had brought him – money, love, revenge – this seemed to him the most poignant and the one most deserving of fulfillment. A little black girl who wanted to rise up out of the pit of her blackness and see the world with blue eyes." pg. 174

thanks in advance ;]

I do not want to purchase on line, prefer to purchase reservatrol in pharmacy or Nutritional store

I have this small wooded lot here in central florida and it used to be covered with thick muscadine grape vines. It was so thick that it shaded the woods and kids were able to climb up it and sit on top of a tree. Since then (over a course of 5 years) the muscadine vines dissapeared completely and air potato vines were left. And now there are no vines at all. We are left with dead brown vines covering the entire woods. It looks real bad. The woods look sick airy and open. The underbrush are disappearing as well. I guess it’s because it used to be shady and now it’s very open.

Why did all the vines die out? Is there something that I can do to bring them back?

Roses are Red, Violets are Pink, When you skip your bath, I love how you stink. Your eyes how they sparkle, your lips how they shine, I love how you can floss, with a muscadine vine. Your hair so brown, your skin so rough, who knew you’re really as blonde, as Hillary Duff. Your kiss lights my fire, your whispers give me chills, especially after you’ve eaten, that garlic with dill. When you hold me close, and rub down my back, I love how you smell, just like the dog track.

Hi, I’ve always loved the muscadine (scuppernong) juice that is bottled by my hometown winery. Since my family’s religious beliefs will make it unwise to have alcohol at my wedding reception, I thought having a bottle of chilled muscadine juice on each table would be perfect. Problem is, I have no idea what sort of glasses to set out for the juice. My fiance seems to think champagne glasses would work, seeing that the juice is "replacing" champagne. Can anyone tell me what is considered proper?
Btw it is white muscadine juice.
Chris B – Post Familie is the brand! Their winery is in my hometown of Altus, Arkansas!!! When I lived there, I could walk to their company store and buy the juice…..the Posts are really great people also. It’s still a family-run business. Thanks for the reply!

A friend of mine makes plum and muscadine wines. Most of the time they are good. But the last batch I tried smelled and tasted like mothballs. He can’t smell it so he still drinks it.
My question is, what is causing this? Also, is there any danger in consuming this wine?
I would like to add that I am younger than he is so my sense of taste is likely more keen. He DOES have a sense of smell but he just doesn’t detect this particular off odor/flavor.

Mine smells like Muscadine Grape Candle and poop from some stupid baby whose mother changed her diaper in my personal bathroom….stupid mother

does anyone know if thompson green grapes can be grown in central south carolina? i like the table grapes more than the wine grapes. also can i plant them next to MUSCADINE grape.

I made muscadine jelly following a recipe just for muscadines. 24 hours later it did not set. Instead of the sure gel brand pectin I used the ball brand pectin for the first time. What can I do to get the jelly to set (foolproof)? Has anyone had problems with the ball brand pectin? Can I now try using the sure gel brand to get it to set after using the ball brand?

If there is an encyclopedia of wine knowledge on one website, i want to know that website. I want it to have everything i need to know about wine. Everything from "How do i make muscadine grapes into a drier more full bodied red wine" to " what are some great wines that are coming out and when are they expected to peek." Please any help is appreciated, I just started making wine. I have always enjoyed wine but i am just starting to realize how big the wine world is.

I had a bottle of Hatteras Red Muscadine wine that a friend gave me a few weeks back. When she gave it to me, we opened it, and drank a few glasses, and then closed it. I haven’t drank it in about two weeks, and when I went to open the bottle again the cork popped out like a champagne cork. Is this supposed to happen or is there probably bacteria in my wine? To drink.. Or not to drink… ?

I know muscadine grapes are out of season right now, but I should be able to order some or buy them somewhere. I love to eat them. I’m pregnant and craving them right now. Someone please help me find them. I have not been able to find them anywhere.
